Disclosures and Notices

Since 1879 the Ocean City Tabernacle has welcomed neighbors and visitors to a place where Jesus Christ is central. We want every guest, family, speaker and giver to know plainly how we record our gatherings, care for children, and handle the gifts entrusted to us. If anything here raises a question, please call or write. We would be glad to talk with you.
01

Photography, video and audio recording

Our worship services, concerts and events are regularly photographed, recorded and streamed online. When you attend, your image or voice may appear in those recordings. The Tabernacle may use them, without payment, on our website, livestream, podcast, social media and printed materials, and in sharing the ministry with friends and supporters.

  • Our cameras mostly face the platform. Wide views of the congregation are common during services.
  • If you would rather not be on camera, an usher will gladly show you to seating outside our usual camera view.
  • If you see a photo or video of yourself or your child that you would like removed, contact us. We will take it down from the channels we control, promptly and without questions.
  • We do not make a guest the featured face of an advertisement or giving appeal without asking first.
02

Children and youth

The safety and dignity of children come before any photograph.

  • Children enrolled in Tabernacle programs, including ARK Preschool, Son Club, youth ministries and summer programs, are photographed or recorded for public use only with written permission from a parent or guardian. Families may change that choice at any time.
  • We do not publish a child's full name with his or her image.
  • At public services and events, children may appear in wide views and livestreams along with the rest of the congregation.
  • We ask guests not to photograph, record or post images of other people's children.
03

Your own photos and recordings

You are welcome to take personal photos and short clips to remember your visit. We ask a few courtesies.

  • Please, no flash, tripods or anything that blocks another guest's view during a service.
  • Please do not record or post full messages or performances. Our official recordings are the best way to share them.
  • Some artists restrict recording at ticketed concerts. Posted limits for those evenings apply.
  • Press, professional and commercial photography need permission from the Tabernacle office in advance.
04

Speakers, artists and guests

The Tabernacle is an interdenominational ministry, and our platform welcomes speakers and musicians from across the body of Christ. Each is invited because of a shared commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • The views a guest expresses are the guest's own. An invitation to speak or perform is not an endorsement of everything a guest has said, written or published elsewhere.
  • Speakers and artists own their messages and music. We record and share them with their permission. Some messages are not posted, or are later removed, at a guest's request.
  • Books, recordings and other items offered by a guest are sold by that guest or ministry. Those purchases are not gifts to the Tabernacle and are not tax-deductible.
  • Mention of an outside ministry, sponsor, business or product is offered as a courtesy and is not an endorsement.
  • The Tabernacle does not endorse or oppose candidates for public office.
06

Security cameras

For the safety of our guests, parts of our buildings and grounds are monitored by security cameras. That footage is used only for safety and security and is never published.

07

Events hosted by other groups

Visiting churches and community groups use the Tabernacle and the Kull Youth Center throughout the year. Those groups are responsible for their own programs, recordings and views.

08

Giving and financial accountability

Every gift to the Tabernacle is received as an act of worship and handled as a trust.

  • Tax status. The Ocean City Tabernacle Association is a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN 21-0738420). Gifts are tax-deductible to the extent the law allows.
  • Accountability. The Tabernacle has been an accredited member of ECFA, the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, since 2011. We follow ECFA's Seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship.
  • Oversight. An independent Board of Trustees governs the Tabernacle. An independent certified public accounting firm audits our financial statements every year.
  • Financial statements. Our most recent audited financial statements are available to anyone who asks in writing. We will also report on any specific project for which we have asked for gifts.
  • Designated gifts. We honor the purpose you name. The Board of Trustees keeps final discretion and control over all gifts, which the law requires for a gift to be tax-deductible. If a project is fully funded or cannot be completed, remaining gifts go to the ministry need closest to the original purpose.
  • Receipts. We send a written acknowledgment for every gift of $250 or more, and a giving statement each January.
  • Tickets, sponsorships and commemorative items. When you receive something of value in return for a payment, only the amount above its fair market value is tax-deductible. We will tell you that value.
  • Matching and challenge gifts. When we announce a match or a challenge, we describe its terms exactly as the giver set them.
  • Fundraising pay. No staff member or consultant is paid a percentage of the gifts they help raise.
  • Giver privacy. We do not sell, rent or trade the names or contact information of those who give. We honor requests to give anonymously and requests to stop mail, email or text messages.
  • Online and tap giving. Card and bank gifts are processed by secure third-party providers. The Tabernacle does not store card numbers.
  • Corrections and refunds. Gifts are not ordinarily refunded. If a gift was made in error, such as a duplicate or a wrong amount, contact the office within 30 days and we will make it right.
  • Planned and major gifts. We encourage you to consider your family's needs and to consult your own attorney or tax advisor. The Tabernacle does not give legal or tax advice.
  • Questions or concerns. Write to the Executive Director or the President of the Board of Trustees at the address above. Concerns about any ECFA member may also be raised with ECFA at ecfa.org.
