NJ Education Information

On Tuesday, September 28, Shawn Hyland from the Family Policy Alliance of New Jersey shared important information at the Ocean City Tabernacle about NJ Department of Education mandates that affect what children are taught in public schools throughout the state. We believe parents should be aware of these issues and exercise their constitutional rights to communicate concerns with their local school districts.

The video below is Shawn’s full presentation recorded in April of 2021 at Calvary Chapel Old Bridge.

Shawn has also made available these helpful resources for parents.

  1. A POWERPOINT SLIDE DECK from his presentation.
  2. A LIST OF CONTROVERSIAL BOOKS approved by some school boards in New Jersey. Please request to see all recommended and required reading materials in your district.
  3. A SAMPLE LETTER to local school districts addressing parental concerns with the new curriculum mandates. We encourage parents to download this template and send a personalized letter to your local public school superintendent and board.

Dating back to Ocean City’s earliest beginnings, the mission of the Ocean City Tabernacle has been to serve, support, inspire, strengthen and connect members of the community. As the needs of area residents and visitors have grown, the Tabernacle has grown to meet them with meaningful family-focused programs and uplifting, non-denominational worship services where everyone is made to feel welcome and the Gospel of Jesus Christ is central.
