Paul J. Kirbas

 

Dr. Paul J Kirbas is the Senior Pastor of the Church of the Palms, a 2,800 member congregation of the Presbyterian Church USA, located in Sarasota, Florida.  Paul received his BA degree from degree from Mercer University, and both a Master of Divinity degree and Doctor of Ministry degree from Columbia Theological Seminary.  Currently, Paul is finishing a PhD in Biotech Ethics through the Graduate Theological Foundation and Oxford University in England.

 

In addition to serving as the Senior Pastor, Dr. Kirbas has initiated a major teaching ministry that has class attendance often exceeding 1,000 students at a time.  His classes address the important and often controversial issues of our day, giving participants a richer knowledge of complicated issues so that each person can be more informed about the world in which we live.  His recent courses have included "Islam: Should We Fear It?"; "Can Peace Prevail?: Inside the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict"; "Should We Do It?: Seeking Guidance in our Biotech World"; and "In the Beginning, God... Can Creation and Evolution Peacefully Coexist?"  These courses are available in both DVD and VHS formats, and are widely used in churches and other organizations around the country.

Paul is married to Jennifer Parker Kirbas, and together they have two sons, Jeffrey (age 13) and Bradley (age 11).  They live in Sarasota, Florida.
