JAY KESLER
Upland, Ind. - Dr. Jay Kesler,
President Emeritus of Taylor
University, will speak at Ocean
City Tabernacle, at 8:30 and
10:30 a.m., and again for the
Dedication of the new addition
at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, June
19, 2005.
Kesler is the author of 23 books
including Emotionally Healthy
Teenagers, Growing Pains,
Family Forum, Restoring A
Loving Marriage,
Grandparenting – The Agony and
the Ecstasy, Challenges
for the College Bound, and
Being Holy, Being Human.
In addition, he has authored
numerous magazine articles for
publications including
Christianity Today, Eternity,
Moody Monthly, Today’s Christian
Woman, and Sunday Digest. Kesler
was president of Youth for
Christ, a worldwide evangelical
Christian outreach to young
people, from 1973-85, and served
that organization for a total of
30 years. His syndicated radio
program Family Forum was heard
on over 400 stations worldwide
until his retirement from that
ministry in 1998. From
1985-2000, Kesler served as
president of his alma mater,
Taylor University, Upland and
Fort Wayne, IN. During his
tenure, Taylor was listed twelve
times in the US News and World
Report Survey, America’s Best
Colleges, opened a campus in
Fort Wayne, IN, and completed
the first successful capital
campaign in its history. The $75
million Taylor Tomorrow
capital campaign was nearing its
80% mark when Kesler assumed the
role of chancellor on July 1,
2000. He retired the
chancellor’s position in 2003.
The Council for Christian
Colleges and Universities named
Kesler a Distinguished Senior
Fellow in 2000. In becoming only
the third person to receive the
honor, Kesler joins Dr. Richard
Halverson, former Chaplain of
the United States Senate, and
Charles Colson, the Watergate
figure whose conversion to
evangelical Christianity sparked
movements ranging from
evangelism to prison reform.
Kesler and his wife Jane are the
parents of three children and
grandparents of nine.
